Health and safety can only be achieved through teamwork, and every person engaged in our business and operations is responsible for ensuring a safe work environment through careful and consistent attention to accident prevention. SSA Marine partners with our unions to proactively identify and correct hazardous conditions and behavior in our operations. Everyone must return home safe at the end of every shift.
Home SAFE
In 2023, Carrix continued to invest in Home SAFE, a company-wide safety program that was launched in 2021 and is focused on understanding and reducing risks to safety through engagement, standardization, and quality of controls.
This included reinforcing compliance levels that are focused on our highest level of potential fatality risk, known as the Fatal 5 Standards, underpinned by requirements around safe people (training and competence), safe equipment (fit for purpose), and safe processes (we are supported by risk-based systems).
In 2023, Carrix commenced group-wide peer-to-peer audits of our Fatal 5 standards, which has resulted in more than 50 audits being conducted with operating locations, with new locations entering the program going through a similar approach.
By continuing to incorporate the key elements of Leadership & Culture, Operational Risk, Capabilities & Training, Technology & Innovation, and Communication & Learning, into our Home SAFE program, we will ensure that Carrix builds on best practices and continues to be an industry leader in maintaining a safe working environment.
