Due to Hurricane Katrina, Gulfport has limited services. The container crane, truck scales and reefer plugs are out of service. There are currently 3 containers operators working with self sustaining vessels, Dole, Chiquita and Crowley. There are no warehouse facilities remaining on dock and the port is reorganizing the terminal layout. There is some open areas available for lumber, steel or project cargo storage and an off-dock warehouse storage available on a first come, first served basis. The channel has reopened and is dredged to 36 feet. There are 3 berths in working condition. The port is expecting to remain at this status until 2008.
